Monday Bunday

Well I don't have rabbits no more, just a lovely Ridgeback Rescue named Bunny.

But apparently, according to an article on the Daily Telegraph scientists have discovered a new species of bunneh. (Yes I clicked the link to the article because of the promise of information about a spider the size of a plate... alas, no picture... googling that next!)

Similar to the Sumatrian Striped Rabbit seen here:
That's laser bunny disapproval at it's finest!

The Annamite Striped rabbit was recently discovered in Laos.

I'm still packing up my friend and her family. We load the moving trucks Thursday morning and pull out Friday for Santa Cruz (7 hrs north of here). If you're the praying kind pray for a safe trip and a break in the rain Weds and Thursday when we need to be moving furniture. Also that we are able to get done all that is needed before then. We are all exhausted. It's difficult to move a home for a family of 4 that has lived there for ages! So much stuff...

My macbook pro goes to the store Thursday for a new optical drive to be put in. The current one isn't writing properly. I'm hoping they can do it in a day so I won't be without my precious but if they can't this is the ideal time to do it because it's not like I'll have any time to go online and catch up with all my blogger friends! I promise to get all caught up next week though!

Have a great week everybody.

Thank you Rabbits' Guy for the gift and and opportunity to donate to rescue - that made my day yesterday. Really!!! You are amazing!

The Hero Dog

Well pooh! The video was taken down - here's the article

It was amazing, a dog was hit by a car in Chile and another dog tried to pull him to safety.

Speaking of pulling dogs to safety Janay and I pulled two lovely, neglected, skinny ridgebacks from a local shelter this evening.

You can read about them here - Bunny and Buck

Bunny is going to spend a week here.

She is frightened but also just came out of getting spayed so she's tired too. My dogs are giving her lots of space. I was so PROUD of Big Dumb Puppy. I put a crate out for her and she's been sleeping in it. The door is open so she can come out but she hasn't. Earlier BDP came in and laid in front of the crate, about 3 feet away just waiting for her to come out but giving her space to feel comfortable!!! I think they all understand we're helping out friends!

don't take this wrong but...

Don't you just LOVE when someone starts with that phrase...

most of you know by now that poor sweet little Zinger is no longer a part of the cassabaum kennel, bunny warren, moving and storage and doggie day care and boarding.

i miss him gobs. he got out. o'reilly caught him. didn't look hurt but died overnight. nuff said...

can't have bunnehs, cute fluffeh bunnehs with adorabuhl little back feets no more. it's been a bummer. someday... but not now.

with that said, don't take this wrong but there is a really cool card game that any of you with really twisted goofy odd senses of humor would enjoy

Killer Bunnies and the Quest for the Magic Carrot

the basic game is to collect bunnehs and carrots and at the end be the lucky one with magic carrot, all the while dodging the other players' attempts to rid you of your bunnehs with weapons cards or the bad draw of a terrible misfortune card.

i think because i miss my bunnehs i've gotten even more addicted to this game of late. i bought it years ago to play with my best friend's son, thinking it would be a kick to play with a pre-teen boy. the pre-teen boy whose bunny i was in charge of for some time in fact.

and we did have a blast with it. ...
(t-shirt design available at Off World Designs)

but it is odd and if you're not into the twisted humor they also have
Kinder Bunnies

rescue is the greatest!!!

I'm pleased to announce Buddy has a new family. He hasn't moved yet but got to meet them today.

Meet Kuma and Dee. They are German Shepherd and Queensland mixes. Kuma has the brown on his legs and Dee has more white on her face.

It was kind of neat Buddy and Kuma were side by side walking thru the different areas of the yard, like Kuma was showing him around!

And even stopped to wash Buddy's face.

It's a wonderful couple who have 2 adult children and a grandchild. They are very active! They also don't kennel their dogs but take them on vacations. They camp, go to the beaches, take trips and just love their dogs. Kuma is young and needs a higher energy playmate. He plays well with Dee but she's older and gets a little annoyed sometimes. So Buddy will be a perfect brother for Kuma and Dee will probably enjoy the break!

He will have, as you can see, a LOVELY yard and home and it's a great neighborhood, nice and quiet! But the family is the real selling point for me!

However the neatest part is he won't even know he's adopted since they look so much alike!

I love rescue!

Happy Halloweiner Dog

Well my church had their annual Harvest festival with 80 game booths and thousands of pounds of candy for the kiddos! This year we had our first ever doggie costume contest. My friend Janay, who volunteers for Ridgeback Rescue and got me my sweet Big Dumb Puppy O'Reilly, helped me judge along with another friend.

There were 20 great entries and it was REALLY HARD to choose just 3 winners! Here are a few I actually got pictures of that turned out!

Here's Janay with her girl Cleo
both dressed as Harem Girls!
Cleo is the coolest ridgeback mix dog!
Cleo helped judge with Lakota.

The Ghostbuster pug won 1st prize.
Another Pirate dog won 3rd prize, but this one was cute too.

2nd place went to a young girl who dressed as a bee
with her two dogs but that pic came out all blurry.

We were told this guy's Jaildog costume was appropriate
cuz he's always getting in trouble! I don't know, he looks sweet to me!

Lakota approved of the evening

I wish more of the pics came out but these are about the best I have.

I'd like to thank the academy...

Furrybutts gave us this awesome award and I just haven't had time to post it! Thank you so much! I'd give it right back to them, especially after today's adorable Hans post!

Lots of my blogging friends in my warren list have already gotten it because I'm too slow these days at circulating it - but any blog on my list is the coolest blog I know! Yeah, i'm lazy... actually Buddy just has me all wore out! That dog has ENERGY!!

A friend showed me a new site the other day - Upside Down Dogs - Pretty funny stuff

But I just have to go into the other room to find my own upside down dog. Actually they're all over around here!

You may have noticed no upside down pic of Buddy - just getting him to LAY DOWN is a feat... the energy in that little guy is amazing!

What I'd really like to see is an upside down bunny! That's a feat!!! Here's Archi from several years ago -

Hope everyone is having a great week!

the other thing i'm doing...

i kind of fell into dog sitting! i've done it for friends and since i work at home i decided to let friends bring their dogs for "Doggie Daycare" for a small fee

It gets a little crazy here. One day i had 7 dogs! and they all got along great!

And this weekend we have our first overnight visitor. A lovely great dane named Mandi.

Cookie is a regular guest at Doggie Daycare every Tuesday and Thursday. We love having her, she's a sweet girl.

She even covers for me while I'm working if I have to step away for a few minutes!

Check out that drool!!!

up to my old tricks

Hey there all. Yes I've been gone a while. Life has really caught up with me!

Meet Buddy - He's a 2 y.o. neutered male Australian Stumpy Tailed Cattle Dog -

He was given to me by a gentleman at dog park that couldn't keep him. For the last few weeks I have been looking for a good forever home for him. A few have fallen through but I know that there is a great home for him. I'd keep him but 2 is my limit.

He's playful, energetic, silly, loyal, smart. He does amazing flips and jumps to catch a ball! He loves O'Reilly and Lakota and our daytime friend Cookie. (Yeah, I'm doing doggie day care now too!)

He needs a family that will take him on walks, runs, and/or hikes. Oh yeah, and lots of property and cattle to herd would be a major plus! He is housebroken, walks well on the leash and is eager to please.

If you know anyone in the Southern California area that would love to make this wonderful guy a part of their life send them my way!
