out with the old, in with the new!

What an amazing little bunneh - 3 weeks and she still had a stalk or two of Basil!

Well her Mum had to grab some milk at Trader Joes so Fidget got a pressie too!

In other news, our sweet foster boy Zeus has a new family. We are sad to see him go but excited for him. He will be spending his retirement on a 6 acre farm with a 4 year old female Ridgie, 2 kids, a stay at home Mum and a Dad that works from home! Oh and a male westie, 2 cats and a snake.

I think he's going to have a great retirement!

If you want to see some pics of him my check out my album on Facebook!

Hey Fiona...

I think mum is finally getting it!

Look what she brought home from Trader Joe's last night?!

Yep - its sweet basil!

A whole plant of it!!!

Plus my usual greens of course...
notice how from the first picture to this one it's thinned out quite a bit!
I think I have done a bunderful job of pruning it.

Ever since it came in I've moved from sleeping in my house to sleeping in front of it. I have to guard it because Mum says she's going to take it away to give it a chance to grow and get bigger. She says then I'll have more and more all the time, but I'm not sure I trust her. I think it should stay in my room!

Caption Contest!!

Well I've been meaning to post more on the move but want to tidy up before I take pictures and ... yeah, that hasn't happened! BUT I am having some folks over Tuesday so I will sometime this weekend!

Until then, I have a caption contest! I took this pic of Buddy at dog park last night. You remember Buddy right? Well he loves his family with his big Dane sister Mandi and I love that I get to see him!

This pic is screaming for a good caption and I can't think of one and my facebook pals haven't come up with one yet either!

There will be a prize. I have no idea what yet, but it will be good!

Have fun!

mah bum is tired...

from catching up on blogs...

Yes, it's been too long. In May we moved, rather quickly and last minute too. We are very happy at our new place. I'll try to catch you up a bit.

I just looked for pictures of my new place but they're all from when we moved and rather messy! So I'll have to take a couple pics. It will only take a couple to show the whole place since we moved from a large 1 bedroom with a huge shed/garage to a studio! But we love it. It's attached to the main house, we have a wonderful landlady, not an insane woman like at that last place, and she has a dog too! Plus she took in a beautiful ridgeback boy named Zeus for Ridgeback Rescue so even though I can't have more pets we share a ridgeback!

For now, here's a picture of Fidget and Lakota when we first moved.

"Get yer own goggeh, Lakota is MINE!"

monday bunday

although it's cooling off a bit (high 90's rather than 105+) ... it's still too hot to be a bunneh

do you mind? i'm trying to rest here!

He's Here!!!

There was a rap at the door and wouldn't ya know it was Cadbury! He had just come from celebrating Jake's Gotcha Day.

He Brought lots of yummy vittles from his visit to DKM. Lando and Fi and DKM sent him with Basil, Mint and Dill for the plane ride. What he didn't finish off he shared with Fidget! And there was even an extra bundle of basil from Fi for Fidget!

Fidget was elated to meet her buddy she had only read about! She presented him with the awesome pine cone we found.

Cadbury will get to take it with him to munch on as he heads off to meet Andrewbun next and then off to meet Buttons, Yohji, Hans and Bailey at Furrybutts and he wants to meet Freckles too.

But first, some rest for a very full but weary traveler!

The Cadbun is coming

Mum says Cadbury is getting to go on vacation while his people are on vacation. Right now he's arriving in Santa Cruz to visit DKM's family. Fi, Lando and Sophia get to have him for a visit. Then he gets to come see me.

Mum was out walking Lakota tonight and Lakota found a great pine cone that we think Cad will love so we can't wait to give it to him!

bittersweet...

Hi all my blogger friends! No, despite rumors to the contrary, I have not dropped off the face of the earth. Though I confess it has felt like that to me as much as it has seemed that way to some of you.

These have probably been the most life changing, difficult, amazing, breath taking last 6 months... I have not recalled when I have lived through so much in such a brief span of time.

I'll try to catch up a little... but for now I just wanted to share a lovely reunion I had Saturday night with O'Reilly's brother Sam! I am up in the area visiting my best forever friend Debbie who I assisted in moving up here in Dec/Jan. I came up to visit her, help her with the unpacking and just enjoy time with great friends in a heavenly part of the country!

She happens to live only 30 minutes away from Gino, Rei and Gabi, the amazing family who adopted Sam. I was already planning a trip to see them at the end of this month but it would have been a shame to not swing up while I was here this week! So Saturday night I went up for a visit.

For me, Sam I Am was a sight for sore eyes. I figured I would just start blubbering in tears at the sight of him. But instead the silly boy just made me laugh and smile and rejoice! When I got to the door Rei was in her office and Sam slammed into the screen door, opening it with great force the moment he saw and heard me! He then showered me with kisses and jumped up on me for hugs. Mind you he does not do that with strangers. As we settled into the living room I was covered in licks! It was exceedingly evident to both Rei and I that his heart remembered his foster mum!

The joy I felt in my heart was indescribable!

The first thing I noticed is how BIG he has gotten. He's easily 80lbs now and lean and strong. That is about 20lbs bigger than Ri-Ri got and he's probably 2-6 inches taller than Ri was. He grew up! Rei's family wanted the bigger dog but a year ago he and Ri were the same size and it didn't seem like they were going to grow more! Sam did! He looks fantastic.

He was also more the cuddle bug than Ri-Ri. So it was fun having him on my lap, where he went instantly, and also sitting next to me with his face in my face.

Not to leave dear sweet Foxy out, she has grown emotionally in leaps and bounds after what she suffered. She is more outgoing, doesn't seem the least bit skittish or fearful anymore. She is just as playful and silly as when I met her for the first time last year. (She was adopted after having been used as a bait dog for dog fight training. She still has some health issues but they don't slow her a bit. Cesar teaches that dogs live in the moment and she is the greatest proof of that truth!)

Rei and I got to have some fun too, sans pups! We went to Gino's restaurant, il Fornaio, for supper and had a lovely time visiting.

Thank you Rei for the amazing evening. I can't wait to come back for my visit in 2 weeks and find more fun ways to spend some time!

I go home from this whirlwind tonight. Tomorrow it's back to reality but I will be posting more pics from my trip, the other things I did, and do my best to catch up on all your blogs. I have missed you all (lurked a bit but just haven't had time to post!)

Also, if you are on facebook, hit me up there - carri ann cassabaum - I am way more dialed into that! You'll find some of your other blog friends there too!

we love you Rabbie

I just learned from DKM that Rabbie has crossed to the bridge.

He was an awesome bun and will be greatly missed by his family until they meet him over the bridge where he is now binky'ing free from distress with all his pals.

Pray for his family and let them know you're thinking of them

Fort Fidget

Fidget has made it very clear to me that this is HER SPACE and I'm to STAY OUT...

I took the litter box out because she wasn't using it, just sleeping in it and peeing everywhere else. So I put Yesterday's News on the whole floor and am going to let her get used to a potty spot then I'll put it back.

She took ALL her hay and as you can kind of see, made a wall and put herself inside the bunker. Yes Marianne, my bunneh clearly doesn't like me either!

She does get time to come out and play but not free roam until I devise a solution to protect the underside of the treadmill (after I fix it... it still works but something has been disconnected, not sure what yet, but knowing her it's the emergency stop button!). So mostly I put her in the bedroom with the door shut and let her play and get exercise. I'll be dog sitting another 3 weeks off and on so won't worry about her getting her freedom until April.

I WAS FRAMED

It wasn't me that chewed the wires under Mum's treadmill, I swear it wasn't!

Meezer Bun needs help

Hey everybody - Fiona needs our prayers for her to make doots. She's very sick.

She is our favorite Meezer bun so go over to her blog and let her know you want her to get better. Send her some basil!

the joy of being a dog...

I just love this picture. It really makes me smile. It reminds me of O'Reilly. He was a serious adrenaline junky! I would pick him up at dog park and spin around in circles while holding him until I could spin no mores! Then I'd put him down and he'd be all disoriented and then would come back to me as if to say "Do it again Mom!" Ask anyone who saw it at dog park - he loved it!

Here he is with his Posse at the DP!

I'll always love you Bubby. In your not quite 2 years of life you changed my life forever!
I am forever grateful to God for you.
And yes, I still miss you terribly.
